Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram conducted a working visit to the IWI (Israel Weapon Industries) facility in southern Israel. The facility, part of the Samy Katsav Group, was established with a multimillion-dollar investment and manufactures various ground forces weapons, including the Negev machine gun and Tavor and Arad rifles.
“This is a truly impressive facility, combining unique expertise and experience with world-class robotic production lines,” the Director General stated. “As we prepare for a challenging security decade, Israel must invest now. Expanding production capacity is critical. It will reduce our reliance on foreign suppliers amid shifting global dynamics, boosting defense exports and generating significant state revenue. This creates a virtuous cycle: increased income enables us to produce more systems for the IDF, both during peacetime and especially during wartime.״
