Maj. Gen. (ret.) Eyal Zamir Appointed as the New Director General of the IMoD

Maj. Gen. (ret.) Eyal Zamir Appointed as the New Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defense at an official ceremony today.

Maj. Gen. (ret.) Eyal Zamir has been appointed as the 25th Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defense at an official ceremony in the presence of the Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, the IDF Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, Civil Service Commissioner, Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, former IMoD Director Generals, and senior officials from the Ministry of Defense and IDF. Director General Zamir will succeed Maj. Gen. (ret.) Amir Eshel, who held the position for over two and half years.

Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant: ״The Director General is an important influential role, one that drives long-term, immediate, and current processes. Israel's defense establishment operates and will continue to operate in the face of threats both near and far, the most imminent being the Iranian threat. It is imperative that we continue building our capabilities, while encouraging creativity and innovation in our working processes."

Incoming Director General, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Eyal Zamir thanked Defense Minister Gallant for entrusting him with the role and said: “The Ministry of Defense faces many challenges, some of which we are currently confronting. All those who threaten us will be met with a robust and secure defense establishment. To ensure this, we must always be prepared for action and continually work to improve our capabilities by advancing our qualitative military and technological edge over our enemies. I would like to thank you, Major General (ret.) Amir Eshel, for your significant contribution as Director General of the Ministry of Defense, I wish you success. I am sure that you will continue to influence and contribute to the society and the country."
 
Outgoing Director General, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Amir Eshel: “Throughout the last two and half years, we implemented plans led by my predecessors whose far-sighted wisdom paved the way for us, in addition to laying the foundations for our own plans such as the implementation of the Abraham Accords and the groundbreaking signing of agreements with five countries in the region, thus strengthening Israel's strategic position and the IDF's strength.
