Every effort is made to ease the departure of the residents of the 26 settlements from their homes, and to facilitate them in rehabilitating their lives elsewhere.
Within this framework, the Ministry of Defense will take care of the possessions that were left behind by the residents of the evacuated settlements.A contractor was chosen, Zim, to perform this task and accordingly, teams were hired to perform all the necessary work including documentation, supervision, packaging, professional workers such as carpenters, electricians and locksmiths.
They will commence their tasks once residents of the houses are no longer there.
Every Sunday a large convoy will leave the staging area near Ashkelon and move towards the Gaza Strip, secured by IDF forces and accompanied by the police and the military police.
Work in the settlements will run all through the week and on Thursday night, the forces will leave the area and go home, so that the teams will have time to rest during the weekend.
The evacuation forces consist of 5 units, each of them headed by a Division Manager from the Ministry of Defense.
Each of them controls several evacuation teams headed by a supervisor who will arrive at the settlement prior to the arrival of the forces, in order to organize the houses before work commences.
He will be joined by the MOD's Division Manager and together, they will tour the settlement, check the houses and mark those to be taken care of by the packaging teams.
They will identify safety hazards or obstacles that might hinder work and check the house from the outside.
Filmed documentation of the entry process, the windows, door, the breaking in, if necessary, will take place as well as documentation of the house internally- broken or damaged furniture.
The documentor will write down the names of the packaging team and take their photos in order to identify the packaging team with the specific house they are dealing with if the need arises.
Packaging of the items will be according to categories, the last stage consisting of placing everything in two containers and "shipping" them to a storage area in the military base of Kastina.
