The State of Israel is committed to the peace process.
The Disengagement Plan
was developed in order to break out of the current stalemate and initiate moves that will lead to a better security, political, economic and demographic situation.
The Prime Minister described the Disengagement Plan as reflecting a clear cut message: Israel is taking its future into its hands.
The IDF is responsible for carrying out the Disengagement Plan that calls for the evacuation of 22 settlements in the Gaza Strip and 4 settlements in Northern Samaria.
The Police and the IDF are responsible for the evacuation of these settlements from their residents, those who will refuse to leave.
Within the framework of the Disengagement Plan, the Ministry of Defense will carry out the following roles:
Take care of the possessions that were left behind by residents of the evacuated settlements. (Packaging and storing)
Evacuate public buildings of their contents belonging to other ministries
Evacuate synagogues of each and every item they contain
Removal of monuments and commemoration elements
Removal of security elements for further usage
Demolition of houses
Every effort is made to ease the departure of the residents of the 26 settlements from their homes, and to facilitate them in rehabilitating their lives elsewhere.
